What is more terrifying than a shark? Nature’s evolutionarily perfect master hunger and dominant species in the ocean? A shark mixed with an octopus! Two masters of the ocean stuck together in a creepy and strange monster? What could go wrong?! This Sharktopus design was hand drawn, and is so well done it’s hard to say no, even if you didn’t like the movie made sharing the same name.
This original design was drawn by Mary Simmons but she isn’t the only one who loves this hybrid animal. Sharktopus was turned into a purposely “bad” tv movie of the same name on the SyFy network in 2010. While the movie was not critically loved (50% on Rotten Tomatoes) it received a wide enough cult following to warrant a sequel not long after. The B monster movie styling was reminiscent of past decades when these types of creature features were cranked out without much care for quality.
